A Ceremony Beneath the Trees, A Story Between Souls
Megan + Dylan | Riverfront Estate | Battle Ground, Washington
Arrival Through the Green
Bryan and I flew into Portland and took our time winding up the coast toward Battle Ground, Washington. The Pacific Northwest has a way of pulling you in—towering forests, moss-covered everything, and a kind of green that feels ancient and alive. The air is heavy with quiet, the light shifts like poetry, and the whole landscape hums with soul. It’s the kind of drive that makes you slow down, breathe deeper, and feel like you’re entering something sacred. Megan + Dylan’s wedding was waiting for us at the end of that road, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we were stepping into something unforgettable.
They got ready at separate ends of the river house, surrounded by their people and their pups. Megan and Dylan took Sharpies to the soles of each other’s shoes, writing private notes—tiny love letters hidden beneath the surface, just for them. Megan asked us to capture “the small things,” and we did! Rings, shoes, quiet glances, and the kind of details that say everything without a single word.
Instead of a first look, they chose a first touch—back to back at the corner of a weathered blue bus tucked into the trees. Fingers laced, hearts thumping. It was quiet, raw, and real. No audience. Just them. It was exactly what they needed, to connect with each other right before walking down the aisle.
A Ceremony with Dogs, Drinks, and Deep Love
The ceremony was short, heartfelt, and FULL of personality. Their dogs played a starring role, trotting down the aisle like they’d done it a hundred times. Dylan’s son stepped into his role as Ring Security with full swagger—badge, shades, and all. And in classic Megan style, the flower girl wasn’t a girl at all. She was a flower woman, strutting down the aisle with a basket of drinks and zero hesitation. Guests were sipping cocktails before the vows even started, and honestly? That’s the kind of energy we love to see.
With just 33 guests, the whole thing felt intimate and intentional. Megan + Dylan stood beneath the trees, surrounded by laughter, love, and the kind of quality friends who show up fully.
Potluck Grazing, First Dances, and Riverfront Joy
After the ceremony, we wandered down to the river for portraits—yes, the walk was a little sketchy, but the view was worth every step. The reception was relaxed and joyful, with potluck-style grazing tables, delicious macarons for dessert, heartfelt speeches, and a first dance to Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez that they’d been practicing for weeks. They played a game of “Who’s Most Likely To…” and the laughter was nonstop.
Guests spilled across the deck, tucked into Adirondack chairs & hammocks, circled the fire pit, and wandered through the house soaking it all in. The vibe was chill, the weather was perfect, and Megan’s Twilight obsession even made a few appearances (Team Edward, obviously).
Closing Reflection
Megan + Dylan’s wedding was a celebration of love in its most authentic form—unfiltered, intentional, and full of heart. Every detail, from the shoe notes to the first dance, to the riverside portraits, felt like a reflection of who they are: thoughtful, playful, and deeply connected.
They made sure Bryan and I felt like family. We left with full hearts, muddy shoes, and the kind of gratitude that lingers long after the last dance. This was one heck of a love story. And we were lucky enough to be part of it.
